Abstract
Understandingthedevelopmentofpersonalityisagrowingfield;however,littleisknownaboutthemanifestationofsubclinicalpsychopathictraits.
Basedontheknowledgethatchildhoodtrauma/abuseisknowntocontributetothedevelopmentofclinicalpsychopathy,itwashypothesizedthattheexperienceofphysical,
sexual,emotionalabuseand/orneglectduringchildhoodand/oradolescentsaswellastheageandlengthofexposuretoabusewouldcontributetothedevelopmentof
subclinicalpsychopathy.Acommunitysampleof160participantscompletedanonlinequestionnaireconsistingofdemographicquestions,theLevensonSelfReport
PsychopathyScale,andTheChildAbuseandTraumaScale.Pearson’sProductMomentCorrelationcoefficientfoundthattherewasnorelationshipbetweentheage
ofexposuretotrauma,thelengthofexposuretotrauma,andthemanifestationofsubclinicalpsychopathy.Descriptivestatisticsrevealedthatthosewho
didnotexperiencechildhoodabusereceivedalowormediumsubclinicalpsychopathyscore.
